Fairtrade Colombian Medium

£8.75£35.00

Our Colombian Medium Roast Fairtrade coffee is a big and bold bean with mild acidity and a heavy body. It has a syrupy mouthfeel, with cocoa and burnt toffee notes on the finish. This Colombian Medium Roast Fairtrade brings out the sweeter edges without increasing the acidity.

Colombia is the second-largest producer of coffee in the world and the largest producer of washed and Arabica coffee. The town of Belen de Umbria holds its coffee market every weekend during the harvesting periods. It is situated 1600 metres above sea level, in the East of Colombia.

Origin: Colombia
Estate/Region: Belen de Umbria
Varietal: Castillo
Processing: Washed, patio dried

We produce a Dark Roast version of this coffee. Please see https://johnwattcoffeeandtea.com/product/colombian-dark/

The Castillo variety was developed in the 1990s. Taking an original Arabica bean, the variety was developed to resist Coffee Rust disease. This has helped small farmers in Colombia to produce better crops and higher yields. This development, allied to selling via Fairtrade has greatly helped Colombian farmers.
