Rooibos tea contains no caffeine and is a notably rich tea, with a smoky scent and a bright orange liquor. Rooibos is cultivated in South Africa.
Rooibos loose leaf tea is a herbal tea which has been produced in South Africa from the Aspalathus linearis for hundreds of years. It became popular with Europeans travelling or moving to South Africa or Australia (one of the few other places where it can be cultivated) as a cheap substitute for the significantly more expensive black tea. Rooibos tea is now incredibly popular around the world as a tea substitute because it contains no caffeine; however, ironically, the tea has become very expensive because Aspalathus linearis is notoriously hard to cultivate.
Rooibos loose leaf tea boasts a markedly rich taste with a somewhat smoky scent. In addition, the brewed tea provides a source of visual delight with its alluring, bright red-orange colouration. After all, rooibos is an Afrikaans word whose literal translation is “red bush”. Afrikaans, closely related to Dutch, is one of the numerous official languages of South Africa, English being another one of them.
If you are looking for a tea that is full of flavour and without caffeine, then our rooibos tea would certainly make for a fine choice.
